"Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but
anyone can start today and make a new ending."
~Maria Robinson
My name is Sheryl Dunn
Watson, and I have practiced therapy in Oregon
for more than 25 years. I have a degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis and
Clark College and I have been a Licensed
Professional Counselor since 1996. I became a National Certified Counselor in 1995 and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor in 2014. I am a member of the American Counseling
Association and the Oregon Counseling Association.
I believe all people have within themselves the ability to move towards
positive change. By creating a safe and trusting relationship and environment,
I begin to facilitate my clients' abilities to accept personal responsibility
for their behavior, develop autonomy, and to make positive and constructive
choices in their lives. I hope to empower my clients to successfully overcome
traumatic and/or stressful life events and to find positive solutions to
problems they may face currently or in the future.
I
integrate a variety of treatment theories and modalities to meet the
needs and learning style of each individual. Some of the treatment
modalities may include cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness
and self-regulation concepts, solution focused therapy, family
system’s theory, and client centered approaches, as well as, parent
counseling, psychosocial education, skills training, and narrative
techniques.
I offer a free 15-minute
telephone consultation and I am happy to answer any questions you might have.
I look forward to meeting with you,
Sheryl Dunn Watson, MA, LPC, CCMHC
